Salzburg Residenz, Prince-archbishops palace and art museum in Altstadt, Austria
The Salzburg Residenz spans multiple floors with ceremonial rooms decorated with painted ceilings, period furniture, and marble embellishments throughout the structure.
The palace construction started in 1120 and transformed into its Renaissance form under Archbishop Wolf Dietrich Raitenau between 1587 and 1612.
The Residenzgalerie displays European paintings from the 16th to 19th centuries, including works from the Dutch, Flemish, and Austrian schools of art.
The palace opens daily as part of the DomQuartier complex, offering guided tours in multiple languages through state rooms and art collections.
Mozart performed his first court recital in the conference room at age seven, and the Carabinierisaal hosted the first opera north of the Alps in 1614.
