Wiener Pforte is a natural passage where the Danube River cuts through the landscape between the Vienna Woods and Bisamberg Hills. The water flows through this narrowing between two distinct rock formations that rise steeply on either side.
This passage formed over hundreds of thousands of years as the Danube River eroded through rising rock layers. The continuous flow of water gradually carved this distinctive opening through the landscape.
