Präsidentenvilla

The Presidential Villa is a villa in Vienna's Hohe Warte district situated on a large plot with extensive gardens. The building features multiple levels with various rooms and was constructed during a period when classical residential design was preferred.

The building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century when wealthy Viennese built villas in this district. It later became the official residence of Austrian Federal Presidents and housed several of them from the mid-20th century into the early 21st century.

The residence takes its name from the president who occupies it and displays elegant interiors with high ceilings and classical details typical of its era. One can observe the carefully designed gardens from outside, reflecting how affluent Viennese families arranged their estates.

The property is located in an upscale residential district with good access by public transport. Visitors are advised to view the estate from outside as access to the interiors is restricted.

The property was originally owned by a Jewish family who lost it during the Nazi period. After the war the family regained ownership before the Austrian Republic purchased it.
