Palais Wilczek, City palace in Innere Stadt, Austria
The Palais Wilczek features a seven-axial facade with four colossal pilasters and stands between Palais Herberstein and Palais Modena in central Vienna.
Built between 1722 and 1737 by architect Anton Johann Ospel, the palace changed ownership in 1728 to Carl Ignaz Lempruch before the Wilczek family acquired it in 1825.
The palace housed notable writers Franz Grillparzer and Josef Freiherr von Eichendorff in the early 19th century, contributing to Vienna's literary heritage.
Located at Herrengasse 5, the building currently houses the Austrian Society for Literature and maintains office spaces while remaining under Wilczek family ownership.
The palace influenced architecture beyond Vienna, as banker Hieronymus Löschenkohl replicated its design for his house in Regensburg through Johann Michael Prunner's work.
