Ehemalige Marinesektion des Kriegsministeriums, Vordere Zollamtsstraße

The former Marine Section of the War Ministry is an administrative building at Vordere Zollamtsstrasse with neoclassical styling. Its facade carries 16 enamel coats of arms representing Adriatic ports, and the structure spans two street fronts accessed separately.

The building was constructed in the early 1900s as the administrative hub for the Austro-Hungarian Navy. Following the collapse of the monarchy, it transitioned to serve various Austrian government offices.

The building displays the heraldic symbols of the Danube Monarchy across its facade in decorative enamel work. Visitors can still recognize how naval identity was embedded into the architecture of this imperial administration.

Access to this protected monument is available from Marxergasse on one side and facing the Wien River on the other. The building sits near the Danube Canal area and is easily reachable by public transport.

After World War I, the building was repurposed by the Austrian Federal Forests administration. This use continued until the agency relocated to Purkersdorf.
