Schloss Pernegg

Schloss Pernegg is a three-story Renaissance building with a square footprint where columned arcades surround a central courtyard. The structure displays Italian architectural elements throughout its design.

Lord Gallus von Racknitz started construction in 1578, transforming a medieval fortress into a Renaissance residence. The project was completed in 1582, marking the transition to a new architectural period.

The castle functions as a venue for weddings, concerts, and exhibitions, maintaining its role as a place where social events bring people together. The spaces continue to serve the community through cultural gatherings and celebrations.

Visitors can arrange guided tours by contacting the Pongratz-Lippitt family administration. The office is located at Schlossberg 1 in the town.

The Rustika portal at the northern entrance leads to an inner courtyard with three levels of columns that resemble the design of Graz Landhaus. This feature shows how architects of the era adapted regional examples.
