Grandhotel Pittner, Heritage hotel in St. Pölten, Austria.
Grandhotel Pittner occupies an entire block between Kremser Gasse, Klostergasse, Grenzgasse, and Stiftgasse and consists of several interconnected buildings. The structure includes various wings and courtyards that make up the complex property of the former hotel.
The original site dates back to 1367, with the first documented mention of an inn in 1674. Multiple major renovations between 1837 and 1913 shaped the building into its current form.
The building served as a meeting place for St. Pölten's society and regularly hosted significant celebrations and gatherings. This role as a social hub shaped city life across many centuries.
The protected monument building now serves as a medical center in the heart of St. Pölten. Its central location near important cultural sites and transportation hubs makes it easily accessible.
Portions of the walls date to 1720 and were built at the behest of Countess Sybilla Franziska von Wellenstein during a reconstruction of the building. These preserved sections are witnesses to an earlier chapter of local architecture.
