Museum am Dom St. Pölten

The Museum am Dom occupies the second floor of a former Augustinian monastery, displaying religious art collections next to St. Pölten Cathedral.

Founded in 1888, this institution stands as Austria's first diocesan museum, established within a monastic complex that dates back to 800 CE.

The permanent collection contains altars, sculptures, paintings, liturgical textiles, and vessels representing different periods of religious craftsmanship.

Located at Domplatz 1 in St. Pölten, the museum offers guided tours of the episcopal oratory and accepts visitors throughout the year.

The museum holds design sketches from the 18th century that detail the Baroque transformation of the current cathedral structure.
