The Theatre Institute occupies a modern building on K.C. De Road, featuring multiple performance spaces, classrooms, and specialized training facilities for theatrical arts.
Founded in 1948 as part of UNESCO's International Theatre Institute network, the center became Bangladesh's official ITI representative after the country gained full membership in 1989.
The institute maintains archives of Bangladeshi theatre history while offering comprehensive programs in acting, directing, scriptwriting, stage design, and technical production skills.
Students and performers access rehearsal spaces, an auditorium for live shows, and specialized workshops throughout the year, with regular performances open to the public.
The center publishes 'The World of Theatre,' documenting global theatre activities and represents Bangladesh at international theatre conferences and festivals.
