Chandanpura Nachghar

Chandanpura Nachghar is a two-story brick building in Chittagong with 14 rooms displaying traditional architectural details and intricate floral patterns on its walls. The layout includes dedicated performance spaces and artist quarters arranged across both floors.

This structure was built approximately 250 years ago by a zamindar's family and served as an entertainment venue for the wealthy class. Following the family's migration to India during the British period, the property eventually came under government ownership.

The building served as a performance venue where artists entertained the wealthy families of Chittagong. The dedicated spaces for performers reflect how entertainment and music were integral to the lifestyle of the region's influential classes.

The building is located near Chandanpura Fire Service Station along Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah Road and can be easily approached from this main thoroughfare. The upper floor is currently undergoing renovation, so access to that section may be limited.

The walls feature intricate depictions of deities and crafted details that reflect the artistic preferences of the wealthy families who built and occupied it. These original decorative elements remain largely intact, offering a rare view into the ornamental practices of Bengali prosperity during the late 18th century.
