Baitul Falah, Islamic prayer center in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Baitul Falah is a mosque on WASA Square in Chittagong, Bangladesh, featuring multiple minarets, large prayer halls, and separate sections for men and women. It is one of the largest religious buildings in the city and can hold a very large number of worshippers at the same time.
The mosque was built as Chittagong's Muslim population grew and the need for a large place of worship became clear. It was expanded over time to keep pace with the increasing number of people seeking to pray there.
The mosque sits on WASA Square and draws worshippers from many parts of Chittagong, making it a natural meeting point for the city's Muslim community. During Eid prayers, the surrounding area fills with people who gather outside when the interior reaches capacity.
The mosque is open to visitors outside of prayer times, but it is respectful to remove shoes before entering and dress modestly. Women are expected to cover their heads, so bringing a scarf is a good idea before arriving.
Just to the east of the main building lies an eidgah, an open field used for large outdoor prayers, which ranks among the three biggest Eid gathering spots in all of Chittagong. On major holidays, this ground fills with thousands of people who pray outside while the interior is full.
