Rusenski Lom Nature Park, Nature park near Ruse, Bulgaria
The park extends over 3,408 hectares of land, featuring deep canyons, limestone cliffs, caves, and dense forests along the Rusenski Lom River system.
The territory became a center for monastic life during the Second Bulgarian Empire, with numerous cave monasteries established between the 12th and 14th centuries.
The Rock-Hewn Churches of Ivanovo within the park contain medieval frescoes that demonstrate the evolution of Bulgarian religious art through several centuries.
Visitors access the park through Ruse city, located 20 kilometers north, with guided tours available at the modern information center near the entrance.
The park houses 190 bird species, including the Egyptian vulture and black stork, making it a primary location for bird research in Bulgaria.
