Orlova Chuka is a show cave near Dve Mogili in Bulgaria that extends for more than 13 kilometers through limestone formations. The underground system contains multiple chambers and passages that form an intricate network of natural tunnels.
A shepherd discovered the cave in 1941, and it was later developed for visitors. Official development as a tourist destination began in 1957, and the site received the status of natural landmark in 1963.
The Concert Hall chamber received its name after hosting a performance by the Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra in 1976, demonstrating the cave's acoustic properties.
Visitors can join a guided tour that explores three kilometers of illuminated passages and is offered at regular intervals throughout the day. Sturdy footwear and a jacket are recommended, as temperatures remain cool and constant below ground.
The cave serves as a winter shelter for 14 bat species, including three that are listed as threatened species. This underground refuge is essential for protecting these rare animals during the cold months.
