Rousse Regional Historical Museum, Historical museum in Ruse, Bulgaria.

The Rousse Regional Historical Museum occupies the Battenberg Palace, built in 1879–1882 by architect Friedrich Grünanger as a residence for Prince Alexander I of Battenberg. Its permanent exhibition, housed there since 2007, displays around 140,000 items, including the Borovo Treasure, a 4th-century BC gilded silver wine set, and a bronze helmet from the 4th–3rd century BC possibly worn by a soldier of Alexander the Great.

Founded in 1904 on the archaeological collections of Karel and Hermengild Shkorpil and the naturalist Vasil Kovachev, gathered at Ruse's "Knyaz Boris" men's high school. In 1937 it became a city museum under the municipality, housed in the Dohodno Zdanie; in 1949 it was nationalised, in 1952 made a district museum, and in July 2000 a regional museum. Since 2007 the permanent exhibition occupies the former Battenberg Palace, built 1879–1882 by Friedrich Grünanger.

The museum displays objects that reflect the different periods when people lived in this region and shows how craftsmanship evolved across centuries. Visitors can trace how artistic techniques and daily practices changed from ancient times through the modern era.

The institution has several locations spread throughout Ruse, so a walk across different parts of the city helps you see all the sections. Wearing comfortable shoes is helpful, especially if you plan to visit the open-air archaeological sites.

The museum preserves remains of extinct animals that lived in this area thousands of years ago. Alongside these rare fossils, it displays metal objects that may have connections to ancient armies passing through the region.
