Vicente Calderón Stadium, Former football stadium in Madrid

Vicente Calderón Stadium was a football venue in Madrid's Arganzuela district, positioned right beside the Manzanares River. The structure had a distinctive layout with a main stand beneath which part of the M-30 highway passed through.

The venue opened in 1966 as Estadio Manzanares and was renamed in 1971 after the club's president at that time. It served as home ground for Atlético Madrid for over fifty years until the team moved to a new stadium in 2017 and the structure was demolished afterward.

The name honors Vicente Calderón, the club president who championed its construction in the 1960s. On match days, thousands of supporters gathered in surrounding streets, singing and displaying the red and white colors of their team.

The location sits near Pirámides and Marqués de Vadillo metro stations, both within comfortable walking distance. A public park now occupies the space, with an embedded marker showing where the playing field once stood.

A time capsule lies buried beneath a large stone marker, holding mementos like an old seat and a piece of turf from the pitch. The marker's shape traces the stadium's former outline, reminding visitors of the site's long history.
