Vigozoo

Vigozoo is a zoo in the Teis district that houses animals from Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The grounds contain separate sections where visitors can observe different animal groups in environments designed to reflect their natural habitats.

The zoo was founded in 1970 and was the first permanent zoological facility in Galicia. This establishment allowed the region to introduce visitors to wildlife and support conservation work locally.

The grounds feature areas designed for observing animals from different continents, giving visitors a sense of traveling between habitats. Walking through these spaces lets you understand how each species lives in its own environment.

The zoo is best visited during daylight hours when most animals are active and moving around. Comfortable shoes are recommended since there is much to see and the grounds cover a large area.

A special section called the Nocturama displays nocturnal animals during their active hours using specialized lighting techniques. Here visitors can observe how night hunters and other nocturnal creatures actually behave and move about.
