Moratalla

Moratalla is a municipality in the Murcia region, situated in the mountainous area of Comarca del Noroeste. The town spreads across a valley with whitewashed houses and a church at its center, surrounded by farmland and olive groves.

The settlement developed during medieval times and was shaped by the Mula family, who controlled the region and built a castle for protection. The municipality changed hands several times and eventually became part of the Crown of Castile.

Visitors reach the town via regional roads that wind through mountainous terrain, so planning your route is advisable. The best time to explore is on dry days, when the unpaved paths and hiking trails in the surrounding area are easily accessible.
