Castillo de la Luz, Military fortress and art museum in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.
The fortified structure features a square plan with thick stone walls, incorporating a late 15th-century tower and modern exhibition spaces over multiple levels.
Built in 1494 during the Spanish colonization of the Canary Islands, the castle protected the harbor against naval attacks until the 19th century.
The Martín Chirino Art and Thought Foundation occupies the renovated castle, displaying works and organizing exhibitions dedicated to the Canarian sculptor.
Visitors can explore the castle Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00 and Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00, with last entry 15 minutes before closing.
The renovation project integrated a Cor-Ten steel elevator within the castle courtyard, connecting different exhibition levels while preserving the historical structure.
