Sacedón is a municipality in Guadalajara Province, Spain, surrounded by reservoirs and marked by historical sites. The town contains landmarks such as the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption from the 1500s, the Monsalud Monastery, a stone bridge crossing the Tagus River, and several religious shrines.
The Monsalud Monastery was founded by Cistercian monks who built churches and religious buildings across the area. Construction of the parish church began around 1550, and the stone bridge from 1461 still connects both sides of the Tagus River today.
Sacedón is a town where community celebrations like Carnival and the Burial of the Sardine bring people together throughout the year. The central plaza fills with costumes, music, and families enjoying these traditions together on feast days.
The town is easy to explore on foot and offers walks along the reservoirs and to the Tagus River. Visitors can see the ruins of La Isabela, which were underwater for many years and are now visible again, as well as a 110 meter promenade with good views.
