Puerto Banús

Puerto Banús is a marina in Marbella, Spain, with protected waters and nearly a thousand berths for boats of different sizes. The complex stretches along the coast and connects docking areas with shops, bars, and open squares where large sculptures stand.

The harbor emerged in the early seventies and transformed the Costa del Sol from a coastline into a center for vacationers with houses and boats. The opening drew well-known figures from Europe and America and marked the start of a new phase for the region.

The name honors José Banús, the developer who created the harbor from scratch, while the Dalí rhinoceros and Victory sculpture now serve as popular meeting points. Visitors see luxury yachts alongside the artworks and can walk the promenade between boutiques and restaurants where tourists and boat owners mingle.

The harbor offers round-the-clock security services, fueling stations, and technical facilities for boat maintenance, while showers and waste disposal are also available. Visitors can walk along the docks and promenade at any time, but the busiest hours are evenings and weekends during summer.

The opening brought together figures like Prince Rainier of Monaco, Hugh Hefner, and the Aga Khan, while Julio Iglesias performed for the guests. This event set the tone for the mix of luxury and entertainment that defines the place today.
