Tolosaldea

Tolosaldea is an administrative region in the Basque province of Gipuzkoa spread across 28 municipalities covering about 331 square kilometers. Tolosa serves as the central town where most regional services and visitor information are located.

Tolosa, the regional center, received its founding charter from the king in 1256, establishing its role in the area. Major fires in 1282 and 1503 caused destruction, but royal privileges allowed the town to rebuild and remain important.
