Els Ports Natural Park

Els Ports Natural Park spans 35,050 hectares across Tarragona Province, featuring limestone cliffs, deep canyons, and Mediterranean forests at elevations up to 1,447 meters.

The area contains evidence of continuous human settlement since prehistoric times, with significant archaeological findings including cave paintings at Cova Pintada in Alfara de Carles.

Traditional agricultural practices and forestry activities shaped the landscape over centuries, while local communities maintain connections through designated access points in villages like Alfara de Carles.

The park offers marked hiking trails, information centers, and guided tours, with the main visitor center located in Roquetes providing maps and educational resources.

The park houses over 1,000 wildlife species, including Hispanic wild goats, and serves as habitat for 50 percent of Catalonia's reptile species.
