El Grado Reservoir, reservoir in Spain
El Grado Reservoir is a large body of water in Huesca Province, held back by a dam and covering approximately 1200 hectares (3000 acres). The water serves irrigation needs for local farms and generates electricity for the region.
The dam was completed in 1969 using gravity dam construction, which holds back water through its own weight. This major project improved water management and energy production for the local community.
The site is easily accessible by car with parking available near the water and simple paths leading directly to the shore. Bring comfortable shoes and water, especially if you plan to walk the trails that follow the reservoir's edge.
The reservoir is a well-known location for diving training and underwater exercises, particularly for military units from the Zaragoza area. The calm water beneath the surface makes it ideal for training maneuvers and underwater exploration.
