Castell de Montornés, Medieval castle ruins in Benicàssim, Spain.

The fortress stands at 440 meters above sea level, featuring remaining sections of walls, cisterns, and two watchtowers overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Built in the 10th century as a Moorish defense structure, the castle was conquered by El Cid in 1094 before falling to Almoravids in 1103.

The castle forms a defensive triangle with Torre San Vicente and Casoleta de Salandó, representing medieval military architecture of the region.

Visitors can reach the castle ruins through hiking trails in the Desierto de Las Palmas natural park, 4 kilometers from Benicàssim town center.

The castle sits upon Roman remains and contains three distinct walled enclosures, including both a square and a cylindrical tower within its structure.
