Centro Internacional de Convenciones de la Ciudad de Madrid, International convention center in Madrid, Spain.
The Centro Internacional de Convenciones is a convention center in Madrid with a vertical disk-shaped design reaching 119 meters high, featuring aluminum and hexagonal panel facades. The complex houses one main auditorium and two smaller ones, providing flexible spaces for different types of events.
Construction of the modern convention center began in August 2011 following an architectural competition won by the Mansilla+Tuñón design firm. The project marked Madrid's commitment to contemporary congress infrastructure in the early 21st century.
The circular forms of the building reference traditional bell towers and domes found in Madrid's architecture. This design approach connects modern construction with local building traditions.
The building offers large flexible spaces with varying capacities to accommodate different event types and visitor numbers. Modern infrastructure supports a range of conferences, exhibitions, and cultural events with appropriate technical capabilities.
The building's exterior transitions between flat and curved surfaces, creating different light reflections throughout the day on its silver-toned metal surface. These changing visual effects give the structure a dynamic appearance.
