Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art, Municipal art museum in old town Alicante, Spain.
The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante exhibits three permanent collections featuring paintings and sculptures from renowned 20th-century artists across multiple floors.
The museum building, Casa de la Asegurada from 1685, served as a granary, jail, and temporary city hall before its transformation into an art institution in 1977.
The collection includes works by Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, and Juan Gris, gathered through purchases and exchanges by artist Eusebio Sempere.
Located near Santa María church, the museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 to 20:00 and Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00, displaying rotating exhibitions every three months.
The museum building combines baroque architecture with modern design elements created by architects Sol Madridejos and Juan Carlos Sancho.
