El Surar, Valencia, Municipal natural park in Vall d'Albaida, Spain.

El Surar is a natural park featuring a cork oak forest spread across mountainous terrain cut through by deep ravines. The landscape displays Mediterranean plant life and sits near the Valencia coastline.

The area received formal protection in 2005 when the Valencian regional government designated it as a Municipal Natural Park to safeguard its cork oak ecosystem. This action recognized the ecological importance of this forest type in the Valencia region.

The forest serves as a link between several monasteries in the region, where visitors can walk marked routes to explore these religious sites. This pathway connects spiritual heritage with how people today experience this landscape.

The forest is accessible year-round through marked walking paths that begin from the nearby towns of Pinet, Llutxent, and Barx. Visitors can enter at multiple points depending on which route they wish to take.

The heavy rainfall here creates acidic soil that allows the southernmost cork oak forest in Valencia to grow. This forest exists at the edge of where these trees can normally thrive.
