Construction of the church began in 1501 on the site of the former Aljama Almanzora mosque, following the Christian conquest of Granada.
The church incorporates Mudejar architectural elements, reflecting the fusion of Islamic and Christian artistic traditions present in sixteenth-century Granada.
Visitors can access the church Tuesday through Saturday from 17:00 to 19:00 and Sundays from 17:30 to 18:30 for both worship and exploration.
The church stands next to the Royal Chancellery building on Plaza Nueva, marking the intersection of medieval and Renaissance Granada.
