The Church of Our Lady of Marvels displays Spanish Baroque architecture with prominent Doric pilasters and ornamental details across its exterior facade.
The church construction began in 1668 under Sebastián Herrera Barnuevo's direction, following Philip IV's initiative to accommodate Castilian monks from Montserrat Abbey.
The building serves as a priory for Benedictine monks and contains numerous paintings and sculptures, including works by Alonso Cano and Manuel Pereira.
Visitors can access the church Monday and Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Wednesday through Friday from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
The structure underwent transformation into a women's prison from 1835 to 1939, before returning to its religious function after extensive restoration.
