Iglesia-convento de Santa Teresa, Carmelite convent in Ávila, Spain

The convent features a Latin-cross layout with a central nave flanked by four chapels on each side, displaying Carmelite Baroque architecture.

Construction of the religious complex began in 1629 under Carmelite architect Fray Alonso de San José and opened its doors in 1636.

The convent houses notable sculptures created by Gregorio Fernández and his school during the seventeenth century, representing religious artistry.

Visitors can access the underground burial crypt, which now functions as the Museum of Saint Teresa, presenting religious artifacts and historical items.

The main altar faces northwest, breaking traditional church orientation to incorporate the exact room where Saint Teresa was born.
