Puente Viejo, Abarán, Bicycle bridge and pedestrian zone in Abarán, Spain
The metal deck bridge spans 65 meters across the Segura River, featuring two bays and masonry pillars that support its four-meter-wide structure.
Construction of the bridge began after a flood in 1888, when the Spanish Government provided financial assistance for building a sturdy iron crossing.
The bridge earned the status of Cultural Interest Monument in 2008, marking its importance in the architectural heritage of Murcia region.
Located between Avenida de los Puentes and Avenida de la Constitución, the bridge connects residents to the fertile orchards of Valle de Ricote.
Iron beams for the bridge were manufactured in Valencia's La Primitiva foundry and transported in ten separate pieces for assembly.
