Acebal de Garagüeta, Holly forest natural reserve in Soria, Spain.
The Acebal de Garagüeta extends across 406 hectares, containing 180 hectares of continuous holly forest forming intricate vault-like canopies.
The natural reserve received its official protection status in December 2008 through Law 11/2008 of Castilla y León to preserve its ecological value.
The holly forest demonstrates the balance between conservation and traditional livestock practices that have shaped the landscape over generations.
Visitors can access the reserve by following N-111 road to Almarza, then continuing to Arévalo de la Sierra where the Casa del Acebal information center is located.
The temperature within the holly canopy structures differs by 5 degrees Celsius from the outside, creating specific microclimates throughout the seasons.
