Reserva de caza de Sonsaz

The Sonsaz Game Reserve spans 68,106 hectares across the provinces of Guadalajara and Madrid, bordered by the Segovia province in the north.

The Spanish government established the Sonsaz Game Reserve through Law 2/1973 on March 17, 1973, to protect wildlife populations in central Spain.

The reserve maintains traditional hunting practices through organized public draws for permits to hunt wild boar, mountain goats, and migratory pigeons.

Hunting permit applications must be submitted between July 15 and August 14, with separate draws held on September 14 for boar and pigeons.

The reserve extends along the watershed between the Lozoya and Jarama rivers, featuring natural landmarks like Peña Cebollera Vieja and Pico del Lobo.
