Areas Beach

Areas Beach is a white sand shore that stretches 600 meters along the coast and reaches about 70 meters wide at its broadest point. The seafloor slopes gently, creating calm waters ideal for swimming throughout much of the year.

The shore remained a quiet stretch of coastline until Sanxenxo began attracting visitors as a seaside destination in the mid-20th century. Today the beach stands as a marker of how the town shifted from a traditional fishing economy to tourism.

The restaurants nearby serve fresh seafood prepared using Galician recipes passed down through generations of fishing families. This culinary tradition ties the local way of life directly to the waters that surround the town.

The beach has showers, restrooms, and lifeguard cover during the main swimming season. A spacious parking area sits just behind the sand, making it convenient to access and spend time here.

Soft dunes separate the beach from the nearby road, acting as a natural buffer zone. These sandy rises shift with the wind and create a landscape that changes subtly throughout the year.
