Playa del Regatón, Sandy beach in Laredo, Spain

Playa del Regatón is a wide sandy beach along the Cantabrian coast, stretching between the Treto River and the sea with fine sand throughout. The shoreline connects river and ocean waters, creating natural variations in the beach environment.

The dune system behind Playa del Regatón was described, before urban expansion, as one of the most important on the Atlantic coast. The beach runs 2,900 metres from the Puntal de Playa de la Salvé along the Ría de Treto to the Colindres municipal boundary, ending by the Regatón stream.

The beach takes its name from the Regatón stream, which marks its eastern end at the Colindres municipal boundary. It begins at the Puntal de Playa de la Salvé and runs 2,900 m alongside the Treto estuary channel. Together with La Salvé it forms the largest dune system in Cantabria.

Parking areas, restroom facilities, and access paths make this beach easy to navigate, with lifeguard services during summer months. Water conditions can vary throughout the year, so check local information before your visit.
