Bridge of Treto, Steel bridge in Colindres, Spain.

The Bridge of Treto is a steel structure crossing the Asón River in Cantabria and connecting two municipalities. The construction spans about 161 meters and features visible iron framework elements that characterize its technical age.

The structure was completed between 1897 and 1905, replacing a ferry service that had operated at this location since the 15th century. This marked the transition from traditional to modern transportation infrastructure in the region.

The bridge reflects industrial craftsmanship of its era, with metal components produced in foundries across Europe. Visitors can observe the manufacturing quality in the details of the ironwork.

Both pedestrians and vehicles can cross the bridge, though the sidewalks are narrow and require caution when meeting traffic. Parking areas are available at both ends, making access convenient for visitors.

The bridge features a rotating central section designed to allow boats to pass through, a technical feature that was remarkable for the time of its construction. This mechanism demonstrates early engineering solutions to the challenge of connecting river navigation and land traffic.
