Playa de los Bikinis

Playa de los Bikinis is a beach along the Península de la Magdalena in Santander with golden sand and calm bay waters. The shoreline features gentle access and is easily reachable from the city center.

The name came from international students at Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo who introduced bikini wearing during the 1960s. This period marked a shift in how locals and visitors used the shoreline.

This location sits near the Palace of Magdalena and reflects northern Spain's connection to the sea. Visitors experience how the shoreline remains integrated into the city's social life and local traditions.

The beach has showers, toilets, and lifeguards on duty during the season, making it easy to spend extended time here. A children's play area is also available for families with kids.

Two islands, Torre and Horadada, are visible from the shore and frame the seascape naturally. Many visitors overlook this backdrop, even though it defines the setting.
