Playa de La Concha, Sandy beach in Santander, Spain
Playa de La Concha is a sandy beach in Santander with soft sand and a gentle slope into the water. The beach extends for about 160 meters and connects to the neighboring Primera beach at its southern end.
The beach played an important role in Santander's development as a coastal port city and maritime center. Its use as a bathing destination became especially popular during the 19th century when beach culture emerged in Spain.
The beach serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors swim and relax together throughout the year. You can observe how residents use this space for recreation and enjoy the simple rhythm of seaside life.
The beach is accessed from Avenida de Reina Victoria, where stairs lead down to the sand and water. The best time for swimming is during calm conditions and at low tide, when more sand is exposed.
The natural cove shape creates a protected area where the water stays calm even as tides change throughout the day. This natural sheltering makes it a safer swimming spot, especially appealing to families with children.
