Playa de La Concha, Sandy beach in Santander, Spain

Playa de La Concha is a small sandy beach in Santander, about 250 metres long, lying between the first beach of El Sardinero and the Playa del Camello. Except at very high tide it is joined to El Sardinero; at low tide you can also walk across to El Camello, though a band of rocks separates the two sands. On its right side a small islet joins the sand at low tide.

La Concha lies between the first beach of El Sardinero and the beach of El Camello, and outside very high tides it is joined to El Sardinero; at low tide one can also cross to El Camello past a rocky stretch. The sources record no founding date or historical events for this small 250-metre cove, which is used mainly by local families rather than tourists.

La Concha is frequented mainly by locals and families rather than tourists, since it is less known than Santander's larger beaches. At low tide it joins the first beach of El Sardinero, and a rocky zone separates it from the Playa del Camello, which can also be reached on foot when the water drops.

The beach is accessed from Avenida de Reina Victoria, where stairs lead down to the sand and water. The best time for swimming is during calm conditions and at low tide, when more sand is exposed.

At the right-hand end of the beach lies a small islet that joins the sand when the tide goes out. The pools that form around it are used for swimming and snorkelling, and at low tide you can also walk across the rocks to Playa del Camello.
