Rincón de Goya, Cultural heritage building in Parque José Antonio Labordeta, Zaragoza, Spain.
Rincón de Goya is a white concrete and brick structure in the José Antonio Labordeta park featuring three geometric sections of varying heights. A porticoed entrance marks the main access point of the composition.
Fernando García Mercadal designed the structure between 1926 and 1927 to mark the centenary of painter Francisco de Goya's death. The design represents Spain's first example of rationalist architecture.
Originally conceived as a museum to honor the painter, the building now serves as a school for students with special educational needs. Both purposes coexist in the space, reflecting how a memorial can transform into a place of daily learning.
The building has functioned as a special education school since the 1990s with spaces adapted to student needs. Visitors should verify access times in advance, as the site remains an active educational facility.
A cenotaph from Goya's burial site in Bordeaux's La Chartreuse cemetery was donated by the French city. This relic demonstrates the international recognition of the Spanish painter.
