La Vaguada Park

La Vaguada Park is a public green space in northern Madrid located between Monforte de Lemos Avenue, Ilustración Avenue, and Betanzos Avenue. The site features different areas for relaxing and is crossed by pathways that guide visitors through the grounds.

The park's creation stems from a neighborhood campaign in 1974 when residents fought to preserve green space amid commercial development. This success demonstrated how local communities could influence their surroundings during a period of urban growth.

The park serves as the venue for the annual Barrio del Pilar Festival each October, where neighbors gather for community celebrations and activities. These gatherings shape the social rhythm of the neighborhood and show how this green space strengthens bonds between residents.

The park is accessible by buses 67, 83, 124, 127, and 133, or visitors can use the Bicimad bike-sharing service to reach it. The location is easily reachable from nearby streets and has parking available for cars in the vicinity.

The park contains around 656 trees, with red plum trees making up a significant portion of the total. This variety of species creates visual changes throughout the seasons and contributes to the green character of the place.
