Teatro Principal

Teatro Principal is a theater building in Puerto Real featuring a horseshoe-shaped auditorium with seating for around 412 people and displaying traditional Italian architectural elements from the 19th century. The interior was updated with modern technical systems during renovations in the early 2000s, yet the original historical character of the space remains intact.

Construction began in 1856 under architect Manuel García del Álamo and opened to the public in January 1859. It stands today as one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the Andalusia region.

The theater serves as a hub for local artistic expression, hosting theatrical performances, concerts, and community gatherings throughout the year. Residents and visitors gather here to experience the cultural life that defines the city's identity.
