Torre del Aire, Salamanca, Medieval fortified tower in central Salamanca, Spain
The Torre del Aire stands as a fortified structure with one remaining tower, featuring distinctive architectural elements from the late medieval period.
Built in 1440 by the Fermoselle family, the tower served as a defensive structure during noble conflicts and was later sold to the Baron of Four Towers.
The structure transformed from a noble residence to an educational facility in 1818, when it began housing Irish scholars and continues as a student residence.
Located five minutes from Plaza Mayor, visitors can access the tower through Plaza de Santa Eulalia in the central district of Salamanca.
The building originally contained four defensive towers, which led to its former name Palacio de las Cuatro Torres, though only one tower remains today.
