Casa de los Pinelo

Casa de los Pinelo is a Renaissance palace in the Santa Cruz district featuring two inner courtyards with stone columns and Gothic tracery details. Its plain stone facade includes a distinctive corner tower room that stands out from the main structure.

The palace was built in the early 16th century for Diego Pinelo, a cathedral official of Genoese background. His family donated the building to Seville Cathedral in 1524, which marked a significant change in how the place was used.

The palace blends Italian design with local building traditions, visible in the carefully crafted plaster decorations found throughout its interior rooms. Visitors can see how different spaces combine these influences.

The building sits on Calle Abades in the heart of the old city center and is easy to reach on foot. Keep in mind that access to the inner courtyards and rooms may be limited, so it helps to check ahead which areas are open to visitors.

Today the building houses the Royal Academies of Fine Letters and Fine Arts, which makes it an active center for artistic learning and collection preservation. This use keeps the estate not only standing but also adds new life through its significant painting collection.
