Built around 1470 by the Franco de Toledo family, converted Jews from Toledo who acquired the lordship of the territory.
The castle displays noble coats of arms from the Franco de Toledo, Saravia, Mendoza, Osorio, and Guzman families above its entrance gate.
The Association of Spanish Castle Friends maintains the castle, which includes a museum in the keep and allows visitors to access the roof.
The structure preserves its original outer walls, towers, and barbican despite local villagers historically using it as a stone quarry.
