Teatro Pavón, Art Deco theatre in Embajadores, Madrid.
Teatro Pavón is an Art Deco theatre on Calle de Embajadores in the Embajadores neighbourhood of Madrid. The facade features clean lines, geometric motifs, and a clock tower that makes the building easy to spot from the street.
Teatro Pavón was built in 1925 by architect Teodoro de Anasagasti as part of Madrid's growing arts scene. In 1931, it hosted the premiere of a notable zarzuela, which placed it at the heart of Spanish musical theatre history.
The theatre is now known as Teatro Kamikaze and hosts contemporary Spanish productions that attract younger audiences. From the street, the geometric ornaments on the facade give a clear sense of the Art Deco style that defines the building's exterior.
The theatre sits on Calle de Embajadores and can be reached on foot from several nearby metro stations. The surrounding area has cafes and shops, making it easy to combine a visit with a walk through the neighbourhood.
Since 2016, the theatre has operated under the name Teatro Kamikaze, a change that brought a clear shift toward contemporary productions. This was not simply a rebranding but a deliberate choice to attract a new generation of theatregoers to a space with a long history in Spanish musical theatre.
