Description
Galerías Piquer is a two-floor commercial art marketplace in central Madrid where around 70 shops are organized around a central courtyard. These stores offer antiques from different centuries, furniture, sculptures, decorative items, vintage clothing, and sustainably crafted furnishings all under one roof.
History
The building was designed by architect José de Azpiroz y Azpiroz and first opened its doors in 1952 as a commercial marketplace. Since then it has evolved into a center for collectors and art lovers, maintaining this role to the present day.
Culture
The gallery serves as a gathering place where collectors of different eras meet while local artists display their work in various corners. Visitors encounter both historical objects and contemporary exhibitions here, making the spaces a lively meeting point for people interested in craftsmanship and design.
