Sant Pere de Besalú

The church structure features three naves divided by quadrangular pillars, with a central apse flanked by two smaller ones at its head.

Founded in 977 by Count-Bishop Miró III Bonfill, the monastery received direct patronage from the Holy See and held the relics of martyrs Saint Primus and Felician.

The ambulatory contains eight columns arranged in pairs, with capitals decorated with detailed carvings of acanthus leaves and human figures.

The building houses the Micromundi museum, displaying miniatures and micro-miniatures, which receives more than 30,000 visitors annually.

The exterior window on the main facade displays intricate carvings of geometric patterns, lion faces, a snake, and a monkey.
