Maudes Hospital, Historic medical complex in Chamberí, Spain.
The Hospital de Maudes features an octagonal central courtyard with four wings extending outward, constructed with limestone facades and ceramic decorative elements.
The hospital opened in 1916 as a medical facility for day laborers, later serving as a military emergency center during and after the Spanish Civil War until 1964.
The building earned recognition as a National Monument in 1976, reflecting the architectural contributions of Antonio Palacios and Joaquín Otamendi to Madrid's heritage.
The former hospital now houses the Department of Environment, Housing, and Agriculture of the Community of Madrid, following extensive renovations in 1986.
The church of Santa Maria del Silencio within the complex serves as a specialized parish for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals since 1973.
