Torres de Mens is a medieval castle in Malpica de Bergantiños featuring three rectangular stone towers standing about 12 meters high. The towers display pointed arch doorways and windows surrounded by double defensive walls.
The castle was built in the 15th century and originally belonged to the Counts of Altamira. It transferred to Lope Sánchez de Ulloa y Moscoso around the middle of that century.
The castle received the Europa Nostra award in 1993 for its restoration efforts, recognizing the preservation of its architectural heritage.
The site functions as a private residence and is not open to the public for tours. You can view it from outside and admire the architecture from the surrounding area.
Local folklore speaks of underground tunnels allegedly connecting the castle to Santiago de Mens Church and the Furna Travesa cave on Ceiruga beach. These hidden passages remain part of regional stories passed down through generations.
