Punta Nariga Lighthouse

Punta Nariga Lighthouse is a modern tower built on a sharp rocky outcrop that rises roughly 50 meters above the Atlantic Ocean. The structure sits atop granite formations and stands as the most recent lighthouse addition to Spain's maritime landscape.

This lighthouse was completed in 1998 as the final one built in Spain, marking the end of an era in the country's maritime infrastructure. Its construction represented the last major lighthouse project Spain would undertake on its coastlines.

A bronze sculpture called Atlante by Manolo Coia sits at the lighthouse, showing a figure that blends human and seagull forms in flight. This artwork reflects how people imagine the connection between land and sea in this coastal region.

This location is freely accessible during daylight and offers views across open water toward nearby island groups. Wear sturdy shoes as the terrain is rocky and can be slippery in wet conditions.

The design by César Portela creates a silhouette that echoes the prow of a stone ship rising from the rocks. This architectural choice links the structure to the maritime heritage and natural landscape in a deliberate way.
